description
The Paris born Post-Impressionist painter, Pierre Montezin, famous for his luminous landscapes along the Seine, achieved great acclaim after the First World War. Showing his works at the Salon des Artistes Francais in Paris, the Royal Academy in London, and venues throughout Europe, he was later named an officer of the Legion d’Honneur.
This sparkling, painterly, plein-air view of the Seine at St. Mammes captures the picturesque charm of a favorite subject of the Impressionists, its sun- drenched array of houses seen across the river from an alley of poplars. The artist’s celebrated lively touch and vibrant palette brilliantly animates this timeless late afternoon reverie.
