Rare Handled Burl Bowl

description

Rare Handled Burl Bowl

Probably Native American, ca. 1790-1800

Burl Ash Wood

Excellent condition, expected wear commensurate with age.

This rare handled burl bowl is related to a group of burl articles found in southern New England and are thought to be Native American in origin. The elongated, shaped handle terminating into a trefoil design resembles turtle heads seem to be the link to this group. This example is expertly conceived and executed.
