Fashioned from riveted thick-gauge sheet copper, the central body of the cockerel is swell bodied, whilst the head and tail are simply cut in silhouette. It is well-weathered and has developed a natural verdigris patination after years of exposure to the elements. There is evidence of much wear, and some interesting historic estate repairs in lead, commensurate with its age and function. This is a genuine early example in "as found" working condition, with scars, bruises and a surface texture that lend history and add interest to it as a work of Folk Art Sculpture.
