The necklace/watch chain is composed of seven sections of quartz selected for their high density of gold, and contrasting pink to white colours. Six segments are overlaid with buckles, and another pierced with a buckle and applied with a horseshoe, the whole suspended with a bucket containing conjoined miniature specimens of gold bearing quartz, silver, and nuggets of orthoclase.  The presence of the horseshoe and bucket represent the tools and daily grind of the goldrush, involving the use of horses and intense manual labour to reach the remote goldfields
