An unusually large nephrite letter opener by Carl Faberge composed of nephrite, mounted with a wide band of lilac guilloche enamel bordered with white opaque enamel, and decorated with vertically applied gold bell flowers within slender vertical reserves. Acquired by Mrs. Leeds at Faberge's London premises at 173 New Bond Street for £30 on 11th December 1915, the year after she and Prince Christopher had announced their engagement.
