Provenance: By oral tradition, the vane once sat atop the Dickenson Family Store in Quarryville, PA, four miles from the town of Unicorn; Willowdale Antiques; Private Collection

Weathervanes of this early period are very scarce, and we know of no other example depicting a unicorn. According to a local historian, there was a blacksmith shop in the small
town of Unicorn.
