description

The Statue of Armide was the main and central element of the décor “Le Jardin d’Armide''.

Wood-block printed by Jules Desfossé, the most important manufacturer of the Second Empire.

This décor was presented at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1855 and awarded a gold medal.

Only 1 limited edition was made at the time and never reproduced.

Designed by the painter Edouard Müller, known as the “Painter of Roses”.

It is the first time that flowers were rendered in such a realistic manner in a wallpaper design.

In this version, the element of the Armide statue on her bed of flowers, is original of 1855.

It was remounted on a modern white background paper, lined on linen canvas and stretcher.
