This beautiful early argand lamp is completed in a gilt-lacquered and patinated finish. The design originates in ancient classical lamps. Particularly interesting are the two pairs of gilt-lacquered snakes ornamenting the body of the lamp. The font is decorated with cast grape leaves and clusters. The foliate casting of the standard and the die-casting on the base are indicative of the high quality of this lamp.
