A Pair of Classical Pier Tables

Height: 36 ½” Width: 43” Depth: 18 ½”

description

These very handsome pier tables were created in either Boston or Salem. They are beautifully constructed and have design precedents in English Regency furniture as do so many of the best Boston and Salem Classical pieces. On these tables, the scrolled upright supports are taken virtually from Thomas King’s pattern book, Modern Style of Cabinet Work Exemplified, Plate 4, published in 1829. The lotus and volute-carved and scrolled uprights are supported by tall curved plinths. The replaced Carrara marble tops replicate the proper thickness and profile of the period.
