A George III Antique English Silver Mazarine with Wooden Display Tray

Exceptional 18th century piercing and engraving.

Length: 16 1/8"

description

Mazarines, a popular mid-18th century form, were made for straining and serving fish over a platter. This example is uniquely sculptural and artistic, with creative and masterful piercing and engraving.

The only other mazarines that are perhaps comparable to this one are a silver-gilt pair in the Royal Collection from the Coronation Service of George III.

With later wood tray for display.
