A fine example of early seventeenth century style.

description

Silver wine cups for personal use first appear in England near the end of the 16th century. This simple bowl and slender baluster stem of this cup are typical of wine cups of the early 17th century.

The silversmith, Anthony Bennett, was something of a specialist in wine cups and steeple cups.
